Steve Farrell's passion for carpets began in his teens. Demonstrating remarkable resourcefulness and dedication, Steve has spent decades building a legacy in designing, manufacturing, supplying, and installing luxury carpets. From these humble beginnings, he has created a brand synonymous with excellence and luxury.
Today, Steve leads a team of over 20 dedicated employees, many of whom have enjoyed lasting and fulfilling careers at SYLKA. Together, they have established SYLKA as a name associated with quality, innovation, and unparalleled craftsmanship in the world of luxury carpets.

1968
Developing a life long passion
At the age of 13, Steve Farrell's family moves into an apartment above a greengrocer's shop. Steve soon secures a Saturday job at a nearby carpet shop, sparking his lifelong passion for carpets.
1971
The start of an Entrepreneurial journey
At 16, Steve takes on his first employee. Despite his young age, he begins to gain recognition for his skills and dedication.
1983
BECOMING A PREMIUM SUPPLIER TO INTERIOR DESIGNERS
Steve founded Borderline Carpet Planning Services Ltd in London. The company quickly establishes itself as the premier carpet supplier and installer, working exclusively with interior designers and architects.
2010
THE CREATION OF NUSILK
Identifying a gap in the market for quality faux silk carpet alternatives, Steve begins product development and research. This leads to the creation of NuSilk.
2011
SYLKA™ Carpets launches
SYLKA™ Carpets launches with two exclusive ranges. Made from the International award winning fibre system NuSilk™ This luxurious and sustainable faux silk carpets immediately captivate the market.
2013
SYLKA™ Launches Bespoke Custom Rugs In The NuSilk™ Fibre System
SYLKA™ introduces a bespoke hand-tufted rug service. This service allows clients to create fine, custom-designed rugs, coloured to enhance any interior.
